Incubus Forum / Incubus Forums / Site Talk / History of "Incubus Forum"

From what I've seen, this forum just appeared overnight... It seemed strange there was no build up to it on IOV, IncubusFan.net, or one of the other large sites.

Is there a 'Cliffnotes' version of how this site came to be, and how such a professional looking site stayed under the radar of most Incubus fans?

...Just thought the creators / new members might like a small bedtime story on the "birth of Incubus Forum" haha

Haha, well I guess I could speak.

There was a very short-lived thread on IOV that was announcing that you could win Incubus tickets here, which caught my attention, as well as a number of other users of the IOV site.  Many signed up, but couldn't stray their loyalty away from their home, so they just didn't post.

However, like myself, a few people decided to participate in the contest voasi (incubusforum moderator) has going until the end of July.  That thread should be in the "Rules" section of the forum.

voasi kinda had a general idea with the contest, and that was to make a forum with a lot of good information on a very good band, in a very short time.  So far, it's pretty much worked, but only a few people are bringing home the bacon when it comes to interesting internet finds, as well as updates on the tours and whatnot.  There are a lot of good opinion threads and question threads, so this forum is definitely growing without a doubt.  Within time (considering the age of IOV, it took them a good couple of years to get running well and with lots of info), this forum has the potential to be great.

I'm working on building it up

As for a bedtime story...

I'm in the business of building sites that get people talking, also known as user-generated content (UGC).  I love building these types of sites all the time.  How I came up with building this site was a was growing through the playlist over at KROQ, as they're THE radio station to listen to out here in CALI for alternative rock.  As I was downloading the playlist, I wondered if some of these bands had forums.  Of course, a lot of them did, but I started searching under "Band Name" .com and there were a few good ones ( http://www.NineInchNailsForums.com is another) still left.  I snagged up a few and started building them.

As for the professional-ism, I went to school for design, but dropped out in favor of doing SEO stuff - thank God for that!   My company - http://www.seminc.com

Its hard to start a new forum, so the contest was started to give people an incentive to be proactive and win free tickets.  Win-Win.  Some of the main posters I'll ask to become moderators, as well as other who I think should be.  Moderators will get compensation for moderating and keeping the forum clean of spam and active with interesting and "you heard it first" news.

As for a little bit about me, you can check me out at http://www.linkedin.com/in/AdamMaywald or http://www.voasi.com or http://www.myspace.com/17787424
